Things Don’t Always Work Out

Deal with it

I used to live life with this motto ‘hope for the best, expect the worst’

It was a rather pessimistic way to look at life.

Then I tried to change my view ‘hope for the best, expect the best’

But this was really just me trying to be overly optimistic and it was in some way naive

Because life doesn’t always go the way we plan.

There are a lot of articles talking about ‘if you believe, you can achieve’, ‘manifesting your desires’, ‘the universe moves in the direction of your greatest thoughts’ and all sorts of aspire to perspire mumbo jumbo

There are a lot of things that are not in our control even though we don’t like to admit it. We would like to believe that we create things with our words and our thoughts, but sadly the world doesn’t work like that 100% of the time.

And for me, the pain that comes from rejection or unfulfilled expectations is enough to make me proper depressed for a long time.

So I have a new motto, hope for the best, expect the best and if the best doesn’t happen, then just accept it and move on.

It is better to live with hope and expectation and positive thoughts and a positive mindset, it’s better for your well-being.

But don’t lie to yourself, there is a possibility that your heart’s desires may not come to pass.

It’s not a curse, it’s just life.

Sometimes we try to compensate ourselves by saying things like ‘God had a better plan’ or ‘The universe didn’t think we were ready to receive what we desired’

Whatever you believe.

And yeah, sometimes it just might be true, maybe our plans or our desires aren’t right for us. The feeling of the disappointment still hurts regardless, and it’s usually in hindsight that you could be grateful for the experience.

As long as we’re here in this beautiful and imperfect world, expect to be disappointed once in a while at least.

Don’t feel too bad about it, just make peace with it. Deal with it.
