On Flowing With The Spirit.

Walking in step with God.

The Israelites had just left Egypt and were on their way to the promised land.

They didn’t exactly know where they were going.

The promised land didn’t have a name.

But they had a guide:

A pillar of fire by day.

A pillar of cloud by night.

These were symbolic to represent the presence of God.

The fire and cloud were ahead and the Israelites followed behind.

Wherever the fire or cloud stopped, the Israelites pitched their tents and they stayed there for as long as the cloud and fire remained.

They didn’t determine the pace of their travels,

The Lord did.

In the process of following the Lord, they had many stops.

Sometimes they could stay in one spot for up to a year, they would build tents, start families, even begin to farm and rear cattle.

But as soon as the Lord moved, they packed up their tents and followed the Lord to their new location.

Eventually, a time came when they got to the promised land.

They had gotten to their resting place.

Now they could build houses.

Now they could settle finally.

The Lord also settled with them in the temple that was built for Him.

I thought about it, in relation to real life.

We’re on a journey in life and we must follow the flow of the spirit.

We go where He goes, when He stops, we stop.

We don’t move till He moves, and we don’t stop going till He stops and says this is our final destination.

Sometimes, we mistake a resting point or a temporary spot for the final destination.

You might have been flourishing in that area initially, then later on you notice that you’re struggling.

The successes that you were experiencing was because God was there with you AT THAT TIME.

When He moves, you move with Him.

If you stay where He is not, there’s no telling what could happen to you.

So follow your guide.

Follow Him at His pace.

And everything will work out well.
