On Embracing The Negative

Because it’s all part of life

I used to have such a huge fear of bad things happening.

I used to make contingency plans for when they would happened.

I soon found out that it was such a terrible thing to do.

I lived my life crippled with fear, expecting bad things to happen.

I didn’t enjoy the goodness of the present moment, instead I fixated heavily on the anticipated doom.

It was like everything was too good to be true and instead of waiting for the future evil to catch me off guard, I ruined things in the present myself.

Now, I’m in an entirely different state of mind, instead of being afraid of bad things happening, I’m embracing the possibility and I’m okay with it.

No, it’s not being pessimistic. It’s simply accepting that this is how life is.

There is no one who goes through life without trials, without problems or sorrows. No amount of money can buy you a trouble free life. No amount of prayers can save you from ever going through a storm.

I don’t fear bad things happening, I know that they would happen.

It’s liberating actually.
To know that this entire world is like a stage. A story is being told and we’re all just actors. The beginning, middle and end, it’s only the director who knows all about it. Because He wrote it Himself.

There’s not much that’s in our control other than ourselves. And in some way we’re not even 100% in control of ourselves. We can control our attitudes and our mindsets to a reasonable degree. But not our families, genetics or experiences which shape us to be who we are.

It’s okay.

The most important thing is to understand the role for which you were made and act it out to the best of your ability.

Don’t act another actor’s role.

Don’t try to please the other actors.

Don’t compare yourself to other actor’s.

Everyone has different scripts.

The end of the story has been written from the beginning.

And we’re sure of how it ends:

‘And they all lived happily ever after. The End’

Because the director is good, and even though He adds a bit of pain and suffering for dramatic effects, the overall story is a good one.

We trust His creative direction.

We trust the years of wisdom and knowledge.

He’s been doing this long before we were born.

Your job is to please the director of this grand story till He yells out ‘Cut!!’

And when your part is over, when it comes to the end, then you’d take a bow and receive the applause from the audience for successfully fulfilling your role.

The story will definitely end, you can’t act on a stage forever. You’d soon retire and join the audience, watching the director do His creative magic from a distance.

Watching how everything works out in the end and the entire story makes sense.
