It’s Easier When You Know Where You’re Going.
Random thoughts while taking a walk.

A few days ago, my mum sent me on a little errand. And with the prices of Uber in Lagos these days, I decided to run the errand on foot.
I deceived myself that this was a form of exercise.
Saving money and working out. A win-win
It wasn’t a long walk according to Google maps. Just about 20 minutes from home.
So I began my journey.
I had been to this location before. However I took an Uber there and it was obviously a shorter ride.
As I was walking, I realised that the map had greatly underestimated the distance I needed to travel.
The sun was out in all it’s glory. I had no sunscreen on and to make matters worse, I wore a dark colored shirt.
I was sweating and exhausted because I kept walking and wasn’t sure of where I was going anymore or how long it would take to get there.
I almost gave up and went back home, but I decided to keep going as I had already gotten this far.
Eventually I found where I was meant to go too and I dropped the package that my mum wanted me to drop.
I started my journey back and I noticed something different.
The road seemed shorter, it was smoother, easier and I was less tired.
Then the Holy Spirit spoke to me:
The Journey seems less stressful when you can see clearly where it ends.
The road was familiar now as I had passed it before. I was tired, but I knew where my destination was and how much longer it would take me to get there.
I felt so much joy as I got home and sat under the Air conditioner in my room.
And I thought about it.
I wonder if maybe sometimes life seems a bit difficult because we don’t really have a clear picture of where we’re going to.
Maybe if we knew that if we pushed through just a little bit more, what we were looking for was not too far away from where we were.
You don’t know that if you take just 2 more steps, you’d reach your destination.
You’re tired, you want to give up. You’re confused and lost and don’t know where you’re going.
Thank God we have a helper, the Holy Spirit. He guides and leads us and shows us where to go. All we need to do is follow and obey.
