A Righteous Man Will Fall.

But he will stand up again.

This is a Bible verse I find very comforting.

To me, it means that even the most perfect person can fall and can make mistakes.

It’s comforting, knowing that we’re not expected to be perfect, but we’re also not expected to remain on the ground.

When you fall, stand up and try again. That’s what a truly righteous man does.

I think it’s safe to assume that an unrighteous man would remain in his fallen state.

But these verses are even more comforting to me:

‘Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.

But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the Blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.

For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of His Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. ‘

Romans 5:7–11

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

That’s the greatest show of love in this world.

To take the punishment for someone’s wrong doing and reconcile them back to their creator.

God I’m grateful for this perfect sacrificial lamb Jesus, whose blood was used to cleanse my sins.

Whose blood makes me perfect.

It is not by my works that I have been saved, but simply by Your grace.

I’m in awe of your love, your goodness, your faithfulness even on days when I’m unfaithful.

Who am I that you are so mindful of me?

May I not take this blood, this precious blood of Jesus Christ for granted.

And Lord I come to you once more, as I am here on the ground, fallen and weak and I ask you to help me to stand once more.

Don’t give up on me. Strengthen me Lord, work in me to will and to do for your good pleasure.

Let the desire to please you burn in my heart.

Uproot every seed that You didn’t plant and help me to love you with all my heart, soul and strength.

Amen.
